Front Shed Furniture Care Information.
At the start of its life your new furniture will arrive with a protective oil-based stain finish (or raw and unstained if requested). Over time through nature’s own doing, your furniture changes to a natural hue which will sit harmoniously in your garden if left as is. To keep up the stain colour and protective layer we suggest re-staining every 1-2 years.
The exposed end grains at the bottom of all our pieces are finished with a wax sealant. Bearing this in mind, should you wish to place your piece on a lawn area, we recommend placing a small piece of paving or stone under the legs to protect it.
Over time, you may notice some natural mildew and fungal growth appear on the surface of the furniture, especially if positioned in the shade. If left untreated this can cause damage to the structure of the timber. We recommend cleaning using a specific decking/furniture cleaner such as 30 Seconds or Wet & Forget that usually consists of spraying on and hosing down. DO NOT use a water blaster as this will damage the timber surface permanently. The key with cleaning the furniture is to keep it gentle and mild.
As the furniture ages (like many of us) some expansion and contraction will happen. This is naturally caused through changes in temperature and humidity, with the timber developing sun cracks or slight twists along the grain. There is no need for concern if this occurs and it is not considered a fault or that the furniture structure is weakened. We here at Front Shed reckon it only just enhances the natural feeling of the timber.
If you have any further questions about your product do not hesitate to get in touch, we are always happy to help.
